I try to live as close to car-free as I can. I’m fortunate to live and work in a dense urban environment allowing me to bicycle the vast majority of my trips, take public transportation for some trips, and take a few Waymo rides when necessary. I consider driving our car as a last resort . I choose a bicycle life because I believe that it is healthier, cleaner, quieter means of transportation. I truly believe that bicycling around San Francisco in the normal course of living, working, and raising children in the city is the among the best life choices I have ever made.
My every day ride is a 2021 Riese and Muller Load 75. It’s an incredible “long-john” style cargo bike and the most wonderful thing that I own.
Yes, I’d love to own an Omnium or a Monopole. Both are works of art. And I would happily add an old school “butcher bikes” by Worksman Cycles to my collection. But I also love reading about new cargo bike designs. Most seem to be coming out of Europe, as one would expect, but also Asia. Below is a list of cargo bike models that I find very cool. I’ll update this list as needed and provide some commentary on the bikes as I get to know them.
